Missing You

(inspired by and dedicated to the man I love)

Silk caress

A light breeze lifts my shirt gently
a silk caress,
it sighs cool contrast to the sun
soaking warm on my bare arm

while the cascading stream and beating sea
sing steadily
All these elements conspiring
to remind me constantly of you.

Traces Through Me

It’s just like you said it would be
this place so splendid
hanging suspended
over mountainous rock
arched into the sea

But the very splendor
cuts a longing through me

Like the waves that cut
a path through these rocks
you have entered me
left your traces running through
and through me.

Longing

You make the common uncommon to me
Now every tree without leaves I see

I want to point out the ancient pair
leaning centuries into each other
or the row along the spine of a hill
like dancers leaping joyous to its crest

Disappointment that you are not there
crushes deep longing into my chest
