Warning!

First, I'm simply a novice experimentalist at this art thing, and even my experiments are dotted sparsely across time. I never took art lessons, not even at school--I tried to in high school, but my school's director overruled my choices and she made me take "academic" subjects like math and science. She was a wise lady. At university, I ended up majoring in Math and English literature, with a minor in Computer Science. It was a tough call between the three, but I thought I'd be on a Rhodes to Oxford, then got derailed by marriage into a life as a programmer. Not so bad; programming in Forth is quite artful, if you're skilled at language. A few more languages, a few more twists and turns, and here we are! And the good news is, I won't be quitting my job to craft turtles, or draw portraits!

FIMO Sculpture

In June 2006, the kids and I were experimenting with FIMO (acrylic clay). Here's my 3rd and 4th tries at sculpting a turtle (I stopped at 4). They are about 2.5 inches long, and took about 2 hours to do (the patterns are time-consuming, but create a nice effect, I think).

Sketches

In February 2005, I played around a bit with sketching and using watercolors and watercolor pencils, and was quite surprised at the result. Here is my first landscape and first portrait. (2007 update: ok, my only landscape and only portrait...)
